Laptops – Something for Everyone

Laptops have pervaded our lives, simply because they are convenient and portable. Its ease of use and compact nature have made them popular and they also come in different sizes and for different purposes. Some are basic, just for casual browsing and emailing, while some are workhorses, sturdy enough even to withstand war.

Brands from Dell to Wipro have a line of laptops and for varying needs. some of which are:

1. Traditional laptops – These are the most ordinary types of laptops sold and comprise of a screen that faces the keyboard when open. It is noteworthy that the device cannot be used if the display is shut onto the keyboard.

2. Netbook – Netbooks are lighter versions of traditional laptops and commonly used by individuals who are always traveling or require the device all the time. These laptops are constructed in such manner that they do not consume much battery and are also relatively cheaper.

3. Rugged laptops – As the name suggests, these laptops have been carefully engineered to work in the harshest of situations such as extreme weather conditions. Rugged versions offered by brands are resistant to many circumstances and therefore come with a premium price tag.

4. Sub notebook – A subnotebook like the Macbook Air offered by Apple is a smaller variant of their signature laptop that provides premium features at a low cost without compromising on quality as well as standards.

5. Convertible laptops – If you are a fan of both laptops and tablets but don’t want to take the pain of handling two separate products, then convertible laptops will be your best bet. Equipped with a stylus, these ensure that working in the tablet mode is a comfortable job for the user.

6. Business laptops – The laptops found in offices for the employees to work on are known as business laptops. These possess specifications such as high resolution of the screen so that work can easily be done for long hours. Usually, business laptops have restricted internet accessibility so as to allow operation of only a few functions and processors such as the browser and MS Office.

7. Replacement laptops – Though, a replacement device belongs to the category of laptops, it is not meant for frequent mobility. It is the heavier version of a normal laptop that just works as a substitute for the desktop computer. In media organizations, where high power components are required, replacement laptops can be commonly found

The biggest brands for laptops today are Dell, Apple, Lenovo, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba and Samsung. Most of these brands have something for every budget and every purpose. For eg. Gamers love the Alienware laptops from Dell and Asus’ ROG series. The more feature-packed the laptop the more it costs and the bigger the brand the higher the price.
